Moree Morning Tea Speech 2

alternate content

Back in Sydney is a team of some 10 people working to develop a proposal to build Australia’s first utility scale plant here in Moree, a plant that could provide more than enough power to some 45,000 homes.

They have been working tirelessly and all were thrilled to have had the initial bid shortlisted for the Federal Governments program in May of this year. They have been busy concluding key negotiations and finalising all outstanding elements necessary to make a final submission on 15th December. Without a shadow of a doubt we have learnt a lot during this process and have built a lot of solar capability and intellect in our dealings with other players financiers, bankers, project developers, network providers etc. We have also learnt a tremendous amount about your local community and will now be seeking to incorporate many of your views in to the final document. We now have a better appreciation of what this means to you, why it is important and how a town like Moree would like to leverage off this project. Many of your ideas will be included in our proposal which will be based on the need to ensure our bid leaves a positive legacy on Moree.

So what happens next?

Please be assured that after the 15th December work will continue and weexpect to be back in Moree sometime in the new year. Whilst we probably won’t see you as frequently please be assured we will still be available and you are not out of our thoughts..

To help ensure timely communication I am pleased to advise that as from today we now have a website set up and a 1800 dedicated to our Moree Solar Farm project to ensure that we have the ability to continue to interact with you and many others around the country who wish to get updates on our progress.

Newsletters will be sent out to those that register. So please visit the site, register or alternatively contact the 1800 number. The details of both are available on the business card which will provided during morning tea. So in summary, thank you Moree and thank Solar champions – thank you all for allowing my team to work with you. We look forward to seeing you again and I hope to be here to announce our bid as the winning Solar Flagships proposal some time in the new year.
